My friend Joe has really bad arachnophobia (with a VERY good reason) to the point were he can't even look at spiders on TV.
Me, him and our mate went to my brother's house where we were playing Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii. I was playing with my brother and, being a fan of the series, asked more about the game. I got to telling him about the monsters returning from past games but once I said about the giant, man eating spiders Joe felt the need to ask a bit more about them to make sure I wasn't joking and making it up. I told him the truth: They are big, stupid, acid spitting spiders that aren't that hard to kill if you shoot them quickly. This didn't help him much. I even told him that they needed to be killed in order to move on with the level. He was having none of it. So, just to annoy him, we picked a level with tons of spiders on it!
The Mansion Incident (Resident Evil 1: Remake level) second part was a great pick. I told my brother and our mate Dre (who were the ones playing the game) that there was two routes in the level to pick from: The first through the Residence with more, smaller spiders or the Catacombs with less but bigger spiders! We asked Joe to pick! He said to repack a level with no spiders on it.... So we picked for him and went with the smaller but more way through the Residence. He wasn't happy with it. This is a short video of what happened. And once I stopped filming he hid again! Even when I told him the spider part of the level had finished.

And just so it makes him feel better I'll say this: Spiders make my skin crawl and I hate them. If I see one I'm not happy about it. However, I love killing them within the Resi games. It makes me happy to know I can get them in the games! And I can watch them on TV without a problem.

  • I'm not so much as scared of them anymore but what scared me the most is

    1. When you walk out of the door (after Leon gets shot)All you hear are the thumps, and because the camera angle is closer, the spider would suddenly appear out of nowhere, I just learned to face them head on. I think I was just afraid that they would drop down out of nowhere but as you said they stay on the wal

    2. In the second part were the waterfall is, I was fighting one and than another came charging out of nowhere @_@

  • The sewers in RE2 actually wasn't as bad as the others, because they only stayed on the ceiling or the side of the walls. Every other RE, they would come at you on the floor. I actually think RE3 was the worst. There was none at the beginning, but at the end, there were a ton of them at the Clock Tower.

  • I hate the spiders the most, the sewers in RE2 was the worst, I will be haunted forever by the thump thump thumps that they make *shivers*

  • They're awful in Code Veronica. I once summoned the courage to blow off the thorax of one of them, only to find out that they can A) survive without one and, B) jump up and crush you afterwards. I found myself soft resetting very quickly.
