More info: http://www.jokisaari.net/tenerife/la_gomera.php . La Gomera is volcanic island (1487 m high) and has some unique flora and fauna, which go back to the Tertiary age (over 2 million years ago) and are endemic to the islands. The upper reaches of this densely wooded region are almost permanently shrouded in clouds and mist, and as a result are covered in lush and diverse vegetation. It forms the protected environment of Spain's Garajonay National Park, which has been declared World Heritage site by the UNESCO in 1986. See our trip to this wonderful island.
