@SeanT228 Forcing integration was worse than segregation? Wow. That says so much about you and your side in this argument. Thanks for proving a point! lol.

@NYCTeacher1 I didnt say it was immune from protest. But protest legally, not infringing upon the rights of property owners. It was sad, you know why? Because it prompted an illegal form of federal force to get what progressives wanted. Rather than freedom, people wanted to use the force of government to get their way. Its sad that in the south they segregated themselves. But forcing integration was even worse. Let the savvy entrepreneur exploit the opportunities of integrated counters

@SeanT228 Private property doesn't immune anyone to protest. The lunch counters at Woolworth were private property as well. Were efforts to desegregate them "sad?"

@NYCTeacher1 Thats the problem with the CRAof65. Its an assault on private property and people like you will continue to justify illegal actions because bigots in the south didnt want to serve African Americans. NYU is private, and this idea that NYU doesn't have authority over its own actions is ludicrous. You dont like NYU's actions? Start your own university. To think you or anyone should use the government or "activist" force to get your way is sad.

ok....

@NYCTeacher1 No, it is your OPINION that their books should be open.

I can see both sides of this argument. But I have to say that if you don't like the tuition, go to a different school.NYU has every right to charge that price. It is a private University in Public Domain, that doesn't mean it's open to everyone, but to members of the public who meet its academic admissions and tuition. These protestors were stupid though, in my opinion. They were protesting the costm but for those who were expelled they flushed that money down the toille. Their own fault...

And what may I ask does NYU have to do with Palestine at all? If these protesters want students from Gaza to get a free ride scholarship (one of their many demands) why don't they, the students, go to a state school and pool their saved tuition to help them?
Again, I stress that the acts by these "protesters" are a far cry from the civil disobedience from eras past.

It has a lot to do with civil rights struggles.
First, I was making the point that being a private entity doesn't excuse your behavior or make you immune to protest (as one person said). Second, I was making the point that civil disobedience (i.e. the "illegal" acts" alluded to by another poster) has been used justly throughout history. Finally, education and justice for Palestine are human rights issues.

Wow, to compare this ridiculous circus show to the civil rights struggle of African Americans is both insulting and completely wrong. Have you seen the list of demands this group has made? These kids wanted attention under the guise of "civil disobedience" which the media was certainly willing to fulfill.
Great work. Fav'd, shared, *****
