@girraffeman i sure did. i am also sure that there is an easier way...

@KrKroes did you actually cut up the footage into that many layers and offset them individually? I've been using time displacement and made a black to white ramp for the displacement map. The results were similar to this video. I'd really like a way to offset every row individually though, (768 rows).

how do you do this???

I'm an art student from South Africa currently working with contemporary film and photography and I've only recently discovered slit-scanning. it's probably one of the most awesome things ever..wow
how to you create the slit-scanning effect?
i have no idea

Hey, I just started doing this today with some of my footage in after effects-- I was able to get a 100 line resolution by interpreting the footage as having 100 fps, and then doing frame blending/interpretation for all the 100 layers. Its better than this, but still not true slit scan. Good Work.
Isn't it possible to achieve this effect with the time displacement effect and a vertical gradient?

This is a very simple idea that yields spectacular results! I imagine it would be really smooth if you had doubled or even quadrupled the resolution!

thanks so much! you understand then!! yeah if i could slice it into 256 slices that would be cool... i actually wish i could just do each line - 480 lines... or i guess HD would be 768! thats alot of layers!
see you around!
