  • Bro, how can you live in Japan and not know the most basic things of their culture!?

  • Thanks, uh, bro. This is, like, when I just got there. I'm a little more savvy now.

  • There are some Japanese that believe this.

  • hello. 'm from Brazil Rio de Janeiro. I really want to go abroad to study! where is this house? which city?

  • Hamura, Tokyo--it will be available for a few months, starting February

  • Not walking on tatami mats in your shoes is an inherent part of the Japanese culture, not to mention the tatami mats are expensive. That would be like having a really expensive set of pure white clothes and rolling in dirt/mud when you don't have to...

  • no need to ask. This guy must be Canadian

  • i've always dreamed to have a japanese house...all packed with zen garden, minimalist interior and a garden pool filled with kois. =)

  • @potatochipXL it's called "respect" you might not have heard about it.

  • @potatochipXL Well, it must be a freaking law if people obey by it...I'm just saying.

  • @Greatersend it's part of their traditional beliefs, not a freaking law.

  • :)

  • Question: What happen if you got caught being seen wearing shoes around the house? Will they fine you? I notice every American who live there always take their shoes off before walk through their apartment.

  • Tatami room, just to let you know :)

  • thats kind of what my sisters house looks like, but she has 2 floors, the top floors hallways are much more spacious and we used to all sleep upstairs in case some one broke into the home.
