Our lab, Bon, had hip surgery in March of 2009. This was her first physical therapy appointment where she had to walk on an underwater treadmill. The idea of it is that the dog's weight is partially taken off it's hips to reduce strain, while allowing them to use the hip and getting resistance from the water. Buoyancy and strength training for injured dogs... right here in Chattanooga, Tennessee!
@Hen9207 Oh, maybe 'Mom, this is really annoying, why are we doing this, it isn't deep enough for me to swim!' ;)

@AestheticPhonetics The therapist said that some dogs take to it and some don't. Bon wasn't thrilled but she did alright. We ended up doing a little different therapy with her because she kept trying to swim! heh She's doing pretty well now, just 'old dog' stuff (she's 11 years old now).

This is cool! My collie who I recently rescued (formerly abused by his old owner) has a fractured shoulder and limb that has atrophied is going to be starting this within the next week or so . I am so excited to see this in person!
Ps. That dog looks like our first dog I had as a kid, very cute <3
