Lasers have been under research for almost fifty years. There are huge prospects for finding cure for diseases by this technique. Lasers are currently used for several medicinal and industrial purposes based on their power level. High level lasers are primarily used for cutting of human body for treating cancer, treatment of eyes, welding and cutting of metals. The Low Level Laser is a device which provides therapeutic benefits to the patients.
The low level lasers are often called as cold laser or soft laser. They are also referred to as laser acupuncture or the bio-stimulation laser and therapeutic laser. The laser consists of a coherent, intense beam of photons. However the low level lasers are not that intense and hence the photons manage to enter the body without causing any damage. This is generally referred as the non-invasive photon technique. The photons are generated from the visible and the infrared spectrum of light. They are highly charged particles with high energy levels that heal the tissues when they come in direct contact. They also relieve the body pain. The wavelength of these rays range from 600 to 1000 nanometers which attribute to the 'soft touch' of these low level lasers.
The low level laser is generated from compresses light. The laser is monochromatic or it has a single wavelength. It is coherent as it cannot be reflected or refracted. The ray is polarized to any given spot. The compressed light is diffused from the cold, red spectrum of radiation. Hence they are comparatively less intense and can penetrate the layer of our body with causing any damage by heating up the skin. There have been no reports of any side effects. The intensity of the laser remains almost constant and the low, intense heat is transferred to the tissues directly. Hence it is one of the most useful techniques succeeding the X-rays.
The main advantage of the low level laser is the fact that it can stimulate certain bio-chemical reactions to produce enzymes which revitalizes the dead or damaged cells. This technique has been placed tantamount to that of photosynthesis. The laser helps in the production of Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP) and other proteins. This helps in optimizing the functioning of cells in the body thereby healing several ailments. Low level laser therapy helps in relieving shoulder and back aches, elbow and lower arm sprains, sinusitis, cut, headaches and arthritis. The therapy also replenishes the immunity of a body thereby aids in easing pain. This low level therapy also cures skin problems and chemical substance addiction.
The technique should be used with some basic guidelines. The power level must be optimum. The wavelength best suited for the body is selected. The amount of energy and the pulsing frequency are also to be considered before deploying this therapy. The main advantage of the therapy is its invasive nature which is comfortable to the patient. It leaves no side effects. The low level laser cures certain day to day problems like sprain, arthritis, sport related injuries and even job related injuries. The low level laser therapy can cure diabetes as well. This technique can always be considered as a last resort for curing ailments when all other methodologies have failed. This technique has achieved great importance and is now being implemented for curing common ailments.
