  • Read the AAUW study. Even accounting for those factors, there is still a 13 percent pay gap in women's wages as opposed to men's. Also, there is a new university study that, even accounting for factors like having children and the typical rationalizations for the pay gap, women attorneys are less likely to make partner than men - even though women are now 40 percent of most law school graduating classes. I have looked it up - I have looked it ALL up.

  • No woman gets "handed" anything in life either. There is factual evidence that shows women who work just as hard as men do are sometimes paid less. I was once told that I wouldn't be getting a raise, because I didn't really have a family to support. At the time, I was paying child support to my husband, and it was coming out of my paycheck, so my employer knew this. That's discrimination, based solely on my gender. It happens. That's what these laws would address.

  • As far as the comparable worth approach to pay equity do many economist agree with that approach?

Also, men are more than four times more likely than women to negotiate a salary. Is there an effort to familiarize women with salary negotiation?

  • Statistics show that women miss work more frequently compaired to men. Women also are more likely to leave the workplace for long periods of time. Statistics also show that both men and women would perfer a male manager over a female manager. Women deserve to get paid less because they do not show up to work as consistantly as men. If you don't believe me look it up for yourself. Why should women get equal pay if they are not at work as often as men?

  • No man gets "handed" anything in life. We are taught early on " nothing is free, no free lunches" and so on. I have never gotten a promotion just because I'm a man. No man has. Work HARD for what you want and you will get it. Life is hard (for men anyway) WORK!!!! Enough with the handouts. We men are tired of picking up your slack!!!
