Mexicans taking a step towards peace.
Dressed in white, thousands are calling on soldiers to clear out of the country's bloodiest flashpoint.
This is a rare protest in a city where most people are too frightened to speak out.
[Gabriel Fernandez, Juarez Resident]:
"We're sick and tired of the danger, the crime in our border cities. We're not asking any more. We're demanding, demanding peace,
tranquility. It's impossible for us to live with rivers of blood of innocent people, of children, of young people-- and they do nothing. They support the murderers, the kidnappers. We're sick and tired of this situation."
Chanting 'Juarez for peace', the residents are accusing troops of provoking a surge in drug-war killings.
Gruesome murders have surged in Ciudad Juarez since March, when President Felipe Calderon sent in 10,000 soldiers and federal police to the area.
Generals in Mexico City however, say only a handful of troops have been corrupted by the drug gangs.
More than 15,000 people have been killed across the country since Calderon took office in late 2006.
