They didnt need to fix games for wings nor pens or rangers during the 90s cause they had a fanbase. They need to do it for newer teams now though cause they are losing a lot of money because of teams like Panthers, Kings, Coyotes, Ducks (Pre fixed Cup) who doesnt have any fans. So they give them a bit of success so they don't have to admit that selling out hockey to southern states was a mistake.

Thank you, someone understands. I'm so sick of douchebag Penguin fans making excuses because they lost fair and square to a young expansion team, and especially because they lost Game 7 on home ice and had to watch the Panthers celebrate in their home.

i chuckle when people claim the nhl is fixed towards players like sidney crosby. if the nhl were smart, they would have fixed the stanley cup finals matchups throughout the 90s that pitted either messiers rangers or lemieuxs penguins against yzermans wings or gretzkys kings, then they would have never looked back.
but they didnt, and series like this prove that. while im angry how they lost and how florida played, anyone can win when it comes to the playoffs, there are no guarantees in the nhl

This series was such a farce. That's an example of beer league hockey with the blatant tackling after a faceoff. If the Pens would have won this series, the Cup would have been theirs. The Avs wouldn't have been able to keep up with an offense like Pittsburgh's.

the officiating in this series was an absolute joke. the rat trapping crew of scrubs literally tackled lemieux and jagr as soon as the puck was dropped. vintage dead-puck era hockey
