Gary Roberts ends Kenny Jonsson's season with a hit from behind during the Leafs/Islanders first round series in 2002.
Roberts received a five-minute penalty on the play, but wasn't ejected from the game because the referee ruled there was no injury on the play.
This hit happened just a few minutes before the more widely remember Tucker/Peca hit.

he gave the guy a tap with his stick before making the hit... totally unintentional?

As someone who's favourite NHL player ever is Gary Roberts himself, that hit was as dirty as hell.
