http://www.fingersoffury.com.au New Darbuka practice CD is now available!!!This video breaks down several different ways to play a darbuka roll/rizz. Having a choice of drum rolls will give you a better dynamic range as a player and of course make you much more popular with the belly dancers!;-)
For playing a roll/rizz using split finger technique i have uploaded a different video.
Remember also...techniques like these ones just require a certain amount of practice. Some will take 10 hour practice before you can play it, others like the Tombak roll will maybe take 200 hours! It doesnt really matter though if you enjoy practicing. Anyone can play any technique on this drum if they are patient and understand the hours it will take for each different technique to manifest. enjoy always!!!

  • @Lagtane1 Not sure if you're still looking as this post is quite old but I'll dish out the info I've got anyway! Good darbuka players in the UK that I know of are Guy Schalom and Numan Elyer... they are based in London - not sure if there's anyone in the Midlands. Eli Nott is also very good and does a lot of teaching (again London though). WOMAD (in Malmesbury - may be closer for you!) also has workshops run by Chas Whitaker... Hope some of that helps!

  • when i saw your 1st video i thought you're Arabic,,but you're better than Arabs them selves !!! ,, OMG i'm so ASTONISHED :O

  • Hi..I need your guidance on something.

I am in the process of ordering a Gawharet el fan Darbuka but as you know..they are very prone to chipping and cracking...What make would you recommend for gigs ?

Sound quality must not be compromised at all. I appreciate your help in advance.

  • Hi,

    Very nice playing!

I want to learn to play the darbuka! I'm interested in your online hand drum school. Please check me and my limitations out at "teodor222".

    All the best!
