I haven't really researched the matter but it seems that the Kim Carnes version does not use the same chords... anyone knows how she did to come up with the harmony for her cover version? Are the new chords derived from the original or else..?

On 1st hearing - It's a bit 'Bawdier' with a kinda 'Music Hall /Burlesque' feel to it - Miss Piggy could do a great 'slightly cleaner version' lol
Hindsight again - Kim Carnes Version stands proud - As i just discovered it was JUST b4 MTV !
So her's sold on the 'sound of it'
and on bloody vinyl as well (Snap, Crackle, Pop !)
Don't forget xx

Much as with This Mortal Coil's version of "Song to the Siren", you wonder what the covering artist ever saw in the original.

Shame on Kim Carnes for altering the lyrics to this song. By eliminating the most telling double entendre she transformed a very clever statement about women into meaningless drivel. I always hated that line in her version! Now that I've heard the original lyrics, I understand the song and I love it! Now that I know who wrote it, I totally get it...Ah, Jackie, what I would give for just one tumble..

Original recordings are good too :P

Whoa! Didn't know this was the original. That said, Kim Carnes's version is my fav

Hah! I knew I couldn't have imagined it. I knew the Karnes version was a cover. (Just nobody else seemed to remeber that!) Wasn't there a verision with a slightly faster tempo & more of an Andrew Sisters sound to it?

Ah, seems like the song makes a bit more sense as a blues song. Love the boss synth riff on Kim Carnes's version, but the lyrics sound kind of off-beat. Nice.

Much bluesier; nice.
I had never listened to the original version of the song before! Thanks a lot for posting!
