Buddhist monk, photographer and author Matthieu Ricard talks about happiness the conditions it requires, at what it really means.

He shows some wonderful images of Tibet and the Himalayas as well.

An inspiring speech and a good introduction into some of the core philosophies of Buddhism.

  • Human beings are creatures of habit, my friend. The pursuit of happiness requires effort and a willingness to embrace change to old conditioning/patterns of behavior embedded in our ego since birth.Letting go isn't a comfortable process although worthwhile and fulfilling to some of us.I'm happy to be the fourth person to comment on the video.

May we all be happy & feel compassion for those who continue to suffer!

  • how come there are no comments on this video. How come there are under 4,000 views of this video (as of the writting of this post). Nobody is interested in being happy? I thought that't the ultimate goal in life. I guess human nature like to suffer because it feels so good when it's gone (as Matthieu states as the beginning of the talk). That's sad but I am no one to judge others. I will then go selfish, stop my comment and read one of his books. "Happiness"

  • @TomasMikaX Speaking for myself only...you are NOT someone who I seek for advice on happiness. From what I can tell you don't have the kind of results I want. May all the blessings of a "bullshit" philosophy be with you now and forever more.

  • @TomasMikaX That's completely untrue.

  • to me happiness is making others happy

  • @sirpaisley Buddhism is based on supernatural claims.

  • If we have our own paradise, we cannot be unhappy within, then it wouldn't be a paradise.

  • Is there a secular version of Buddhism? It would be nice to have some of the philosophy and none of the supernatural bullshit.

  • @jaylaine74 Hey just stopping by your stopping by.

  • hey, just stopping by here
