The optical losses at the contact point of tapered fiber and microresonator change the temperature of the fiber such that it moves away from the resonator. Subsequently, the fiber heats up again and moves back to the resonator. Note that the tapered fiber is not actively moved in this video. The blinking of the toroid is related to third harmonic generation and four-wave mixing effects.
