I was raised in the catholic church, and it did the trick for me...I am athiest- in my own blood I have seen christ. We are all christ; to suffer and die as sacrifices on the alters of power and control. Religion enslaves humanity.

@badeyestrain My father was a Catholic too, he sussed it out when he was 12 or 13. And nothing turns a person in to a non-believer faster than reading a holy book! Religion does enslave humnity, but other ideologies also do the same job... Communism, Socialism, Capitalism etc... The point is I think we should all question everything and everyone, lest we be gullible fools and lend our support to people and causes that would lead us to destruction.

There have been far more wars over religion than economics, come on that's just common sense.

@EEN9B It does seem that way. Though since the early 1900s there has been war on a grander scale than in the past. And because of modern weapons and because it was recent and documented, religious people tend to believe the forces of Atheism and secularism have killed more people. Which is bollocks of course. However it's still important to remember that people still fight and die over any ideological disagreement.

@kurtvw83 So even if we remove the West from the mid-east, which is what many people and groups want us to do, it wouldn't end war in the region, there's far too many religious and political ideological fault lines that are all too easy to 'set off'. As for Politicians seeing this video, they wont give a fuck. They live in lala-land and only think of their wages and re-election. If a war would assure them of another term in office and more money, they'd start one.

@kurtvw83 I worry we wont make it out of the century in one piece. A war around the Mid-East and Iran is a strong possibility at the moment. While the West fights for economic control of the area some states in the mid-east see it as a way to bring on their 'end of days'. What's sad is that It wouldn't matter if the West found an alternative fuel source and could leave the region, the fact is the mid-east would still burn and take a large chunk of the world with it.

@Steppenwolf27 You know, I've never read one Atheist book, not because I disagree or think they're crap, but because when I was growing up I was exposed and had an interest in the natural world and education. And when you look at religion through an educated mind it just doesn't stand up to reason or scrutiny. So I've never really had a need to read them. However, I still want to read Dawkin's, Harris's and Hitchen's work! :O)
