  • @beigemore No need to discharge. You generally discharge a tube when you're going to be working on the chassis. When you rotate it your hands are never near the chassis, or the suction cup on the back of the monitor.

For those that don't know, the large red wire that goes from the flyback transformer on the monitor chassis to the suction cup is what carries the voltage to the monitor. DO NOT mess with that wire or suction cup without discharging the monitor first!

  • @TomsProjects Do you have to discharge the monitor before doing this?

I bought an 'Amp UP' connector that plugged into the cabinets kick harness, then routed that to the extra Dreamcast buttons.

I have a Dreamcast, audio amp and plastic tub with hacked controllers sitting in the cab unsecured. I'd have to pull them all out to tip it so I don't know if it would be worth the trouble, but thanks for the tip - I hadn't thought of doing it that way!

  • Thanks for the video. I saw you have a Dreamcast in there. Do you have the "kick buttons" on the controllers wired directly to the buttons, or do you use some type of junction box?

  • Nice video! Although I recommend tipping the cabinet onto its back before rotating the tube. You'll find it a lot easier this way, standing directly over the tube (straddle the cab), pull up, rotate, and sit it back down, all in one motion. Your back muscles will thank you for doing it this way. :)
