If only more people were like this, why does one need more than a roof over ones head and just enough necessities to get by comfortably with.

The Nearing's didn't have children.

It is ironic that Scott Nearing's son, who was a good friend of mine, became a vice president of local bank.

I saw this film over 25 years ago. I even visited with Mrs Nearing at Forest farm in Harborside Maine. She was one of the finest person I ever met.
Since then I visited the Good Life Center and recommended others to stop by during visiting hours. Remarkable achievement by two elders with solid principles.
I love Mr. Nearings last comment about the "Bankers", right again Scotto!

Champions!
@Kittenkattan Ah but you see Helen was not the only wife Scott had. His first wife Nellie and he had two sons John and Robert the latter was adopted. Scott later broke off all contact with his son John, but he and Bob were always on good terms. Bob contributed many of the photographs for John Saltmarsh's biography of Nearing.

That is so good I have to take a deep deep breath.
I had the book he wrote, lost now through time.
Living The Good Life.
I had the impression he had been involved in finance, not sure if i missed it in the video.
A lovely sane couple harvesting maple syrup by their own strength.
