Actually the state senate and house of burgesses is in Republican control. They stopped the Democrats' efforts to raise any taxes. Virginia has among the lowest taxes of any state because George Allen lowered them to the current rates when he was governor and then the Republicans in senate vetoed any attempts by democratic senators to raise the rates (trust me they have tried).

We argue for relative truths. We stand up against hate and ignorance. We can debate until our mouths fall off.  This was the calling insisted upon our founding fathers. We live lives of comfort so we do more than survive, we make the world a better place. Complacence is dangerous, even more so than hate.

We are people who can agree to disagree (I've spoken with him a handful of time during the campaign). And he'll stay in the middle of the road if he knows what is good for him. Even if VA is center right, not many women will put up with your ignorant assumption that if we just "go back in the kitchen," the stars will align and everything will make since again. Our society has been shifting since it's founding, accommodating new ideas and discarding dated notions. People always resist, but history almost always looks back on traditionalists in a negative light.
