  • Actually, it is an Hawaiian Style of Jujutsu founded in Hawaii & Based on Several Japanese Styles Of Jujutsu, Kodokan Judo, Western Wrestling & Boxing, Lua, and a few other systems. But the word "DanZan" translates to Hawaiian Islands, thus the Hawaiian Style Of Jujutsu.

  • The striking comes later..In Oku, Shinnin. Shinyo, And Especially Shingin.

  • It´s nice to find more people around that loves Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. I am trying to expand this Jujitsu system in Spain, right now only exist the Kodenkan Komori Dojo with 10 students. Youtube is a good base for expanding but it will be good to create videos to post in Emule or other peer to peer programs so we can show our system to more people. The video it´s really good, right now I am Sankyu so don´t know all those techniques but the last one it´s gonna be part of my personal repertory.

  • Well that's true but when you go to study grappling they expect you to already have some striking experience behind your belt. They tell you to do various strikes with the arts and if you don't know what a roundhouse is then you're in trouble.

  • I just started Danzan ryu and I think it's a really good style. My only problem with it is it doesn't have a moderate ammount of striking. But nothing says you can't add striking in yourself for personal use right?

  • Yes, and it is Japanese JuJitsu. It covers a wide array of skills like throws, constriction, striking, and grappling. Three other martial arts came from it: Judo, Akido, and BJJ. It is a very fun and practical art, so I highly recommend learning it.

  • Is this an exhibition of Danzan Ryu Jiu Jitsu? I don't know and I've never saw before that style so, I'll apreciate if you explain more about it.
