Compton hasn't averaged 90 murders since the early 1990's- when crack was sweeping the US and ALL US cities had higher murder rates.

Compton USUALLY does have a slightly higher murder rate than Oakland, as does Richmond. But in terms of all other crimes Oakland blows those cities out of the waters

okaay oakland is saposed to be the worst city in california with the most homocide and shitt like that. im comparing oakland to compton cuz im from long beach. oakland has a little over 400,000 ppl and compton has about 90,000. oakland has about 180 homocides a yea and compton has about 85-90 a year if we multiply that by 4 where talkin bout 360 homocides a year
for comptons size being less than 100,000 ppl its way worse that oakland

San Francisco was ranked as the 99th most dangerous city in the US.

LA was 137.

Oakland was #3.

Detroit was #5.

So according to the lasts stats to come up, Oakland has more crime than Detroit. Detroit historically though has more crime than Oakland. And Detroit is much more desolate. Oakland is beautiful compared to Detroit.

These statistics are based on per capita. Oakland's pop is a little less than 400,000. LA county is over 8 million. I have to agree that oakland has a horrible crime rate. but cities like LA and New York statistically will always be low in crime per capita because their population is so high. Make sense?
