A solo inspired by the ambient album, Evening Star by Fripp/Eno. When I first uploaded this, I wasn't expecting positive feedback to be honest. I feel I could have done much better but it seems this effort is satisfactory to your viewing pleasure. ;P Yes, 100% of this is improvisation (I had a set scale).

Vox DA5 Amp

  • sound cool:-)

I see youpluck a string in the beginning then do something with your hand that creates a long sustain sound whats creating this effect?

  • @briankeary I volume swelled into a delay pedal loop, so it sustains forever.

  • Do I plan to become a successful musician because of me pretending to be Fripp? Not at all. A 16 year old that listens to prog becomes bored every once in a while. ;)

  • ...what? Yup. I'm playing in the style of Fripp from the 70's. I never mentioned this being my only style. You're right- it's very easy to play. Listen to Evening Star - Fripp/Eno. Is that solo hard to play? A lot of beautiful music is also the simplest. Anyways.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You can love your technique based guitar wankery all you like- I prefer emotion over technique personally. I guess Fripp did loads of second hand ejaculation as well.

  • Well done, sir...bravo! This is the closest thing to Fripp I've found on youtube. If you don't mind my asking, what scale are you using?

  • Thank you! A good question. What I noticed about Fripp's soloing is that it is hard to identify what key he is playing in. You can easily figure out what notes he is using, but most often, the exact scale is difficult to figure. My scale could be B Dorian (if judging by the first note I play), E Mixolydian, A Major, etc. I'd call it E Mixolydian because I go to E for a "safe" not, to relieve the tension.

  • @Tengent yeah! good job man, I'd like to prove to NST, any information? about the 1st and 2nd strings?? up or down!! thanks!

  • The soloing is great. The "soundbed" gets a little lost and sounds like wall of static after a while, but you have captured Fripp's phrasing and synthetic scales very well.

  • Good job. Try adding some bolgarian scales to it. That's what fripp did a lot =)

  • buen sonido! como lo logras?

  • yes max i moved to alabama. and no u cannot suck my dick... like... ever

  • Good work :) Glad to see appreciation improvisation and modes!

  • Robert Fripp, Egg, Mont Campbell...and you were 16 when you did this--18 or near so now? Bravo, bravo, bravo!

  • no evening star, but not bad.

  • @LimmingKenny there's pills for that.

  • @LimmingKenny well then this gave me a raging boner.
