To demonstrate a solo idea much influenced by the late great John Bonham..

Feet playing single strokes all the way, leading with left. Right hand doubles the hihat on floor tom. Left hand plays accents, then moving on to Bonham-style R-L-F -triplets.

Then I drift away into another stuff I've been working on recently..

In the end I move left foot between hihat and double bass slave pedal to make the thing sound bigger. The double kick part is a bit of a work in progress, should be much tighter..

Finish with some Portnoy-fills on floor toms and the splash!

Also loving my new Meinl Byzance trash crash! Who needs a china!

  • Thanks for sharing this! Very nice! I do have a question: at the :41 to roughly the :52 mark of the video, are you playing double strokes on the toms? sounds kinda like it but i cant tell. Thanks.

  • @Spindrummer nope, the "bursts" are just right - left - foot (triplets)

  • Great job! What kinda petals are you using?

  • @crashintome352 DW 5000-series. Thanks!

  • Wow

Great stuff and a great set.

I heard alot of ian paice in there.

I have nothing against dual pedals, but under a drum solo the hi hat should be there going in the background. Like you did, and paice on the mule from Japan. Love it.

    Greetings from norway,

  • nam! inspiroivaa katseltavaa ja kuunneltavaa :)
