Spring 1980. Theatre Director Sue Pomeroy travels to East Berlin at the height of the Cold War. She is twenty seven years old in search of the man who fascinates and excites her, playwright and poet, Bertolt Brecht.
The Berlin Wall has been standing for nineteen years, in effect a scar snaking across the whole of Europe. Breaking free from her middle class background she journeys behind the Iron Curtain to find out if it holds the answers.
Embarking on a thrilling journey of discovery and adventure Sue finds a whole new world - revelation, love and disillusion but she also finds her freedom and an experience that will change her life forever.
