  • Nice but I don't think it is a good idea ot put text over the audio. It detracts from the reading of the letter. You cannot listen and read at the same time. I would remove the text. It probably would have been better to simply post the orignal Ken Burn's clip. Copyright is not an issue because you are using copyrighted property anyway. Too many people tamper with this beautiful and poignant letter.

  • @wisner4x5 well u have heard it before I am sure & the images are public & the animation mine. I think you can watch it again if you did not get it all....the idea is there is more then one story here..the letter expresses it verbally but the images & the text shows that the romantic tragedy of this war & all wars is not uncommon Studies show that because of early access to the computer with its many multiply takes that young people have no problem getting the information they need in this way

  • Sullivan Ballou's Letter: Tears come to me everytime I hear his letter read. I was born in the South but the US is the govt I give my loyalty to. Schade

  • This one reaches right out and touches my heart. What a beautiful love story. Ashoken Farewell is one of the most beautiful creations of music..the entire story of such a love existing is a heart touching one. Thanks for posting.

  • This could be written by a soldier today. Stunning.

  • Beautiful...

  • I love Sullivan (:

  • It's amazing to me how popular this letter has bee n through the ages. I wonder if Mr Ballou knew as he penned it that it would be immortal. I'm sure he didn't. But the thought haunts me. Any one of us might unwittingly do something that generations will exalt and admire. We just never know.

  • Very sad, what war does. Especially a Civil War, which put families against families and friends against friends. I'm sure Mr. Ballou felt that he would not be returning. Thus the prophetic letter to his Sarah.

  • Lovely!
