This is a collection of 3 songs played by me that are essentially James Booker's arrangement. I wanted to perform this because it is definitely up there with my FAVORITE pieces of music by one of my FAVORITE artists. Plus there is currently no original version or cover of this piece that I could find on YouTube, so I wanted the YouTube community to at least be able to access a cover of my favorite arrangement.

About the arrangement: the 1st song is called "Blues Minuet" and is written by Booker himself. The 2nd song is called "It Will Have To Do Until the Real Thing Comes Along" and is arranged by James Booker and was originally written by Mann Holiner, Alberta Nichols, Saul Chaplin, L.E. Freeman, and Sammy Cahn. The 3rd song was arranged by Booker and originally written by Charles Warfield and Clarence Williams.... In spite of my awkward facial expressions and occasional stumbles, i hope you enjoy this video!

  • huge booker fan. 5 stars automatically. i play (try to) some of his songs but he is so hard. you did awesome. it would take me a long time to learn that medley. if you play another one of his songs definetly post it.

  • @Bullwinkel I just recently got my webcam to work again so sorry for taking...7 months to respond?! haha kinda inexcusable on my part but I haven't been on my profile at all. Yea it took me a very long time to learn that medley but I obsessed over it enough that I was able to get it down after about 6 months. I'm not nearly as comfortable with his other songs but if I get good enought I'll post another.

  • @Bullwinkel sorry to reply twice it wouldn't fit on one post. If you get the chance please look at my original song. It's not quite Booker/ New Orleans style but it's a rhythm and blues tune.

  • Cool to see Booker inspiring a new generation :-) Awesome job Ryan, his arrangements are a challenge!

  • Thanks!

  • i salute the challenge and effort, but this isnt music to be read, it just sound dreafull, because it as to come from within, you shouldnt try to emulate booker note for note, but you should use his chord progression, and learn to improvise in his style,

you would get much more a good result,

    just my opinion,

  • I'm flabbergasted. Yes, it's great to see Booker inspiring the young. Awesome playing and singing. Keep on G'wine, Ryan!!!
