two bat caves could make to batman movies at the same time :) hay keep the cave clean for 7 years then clame it as your own make a great house brick up the ends put a door in and dievide it into to sections and make half into a garage for your car, heat and air condishioning not needed, never have to roof it, stop harmful radiation from the sun, you would be a cave dweller batman with out a costum :)

Doesn't anyone read any more? This regular road was an attempt to provide another route out of LA in the event of a nuclear attack. It was abandoned as the whole notion of evacuation is just stupid. The grade is too steep to be a railroad, and the turns too tight for a 1960's rail line. The tunnels are completed, the "Incomplete" part is the part that the natural rock is stable enough that it doesn't need reinforcing. It is not a WPA project. This is California's Shoemaker Canyon.

Where is Shoemaker Canyon, your information that was typed in was kind of lacking in that regard. The vegitation appears similar to that which is found in Nevada, Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington.
As to what they are, These appear to be old abandoned rail road tunnels and they always were marked with the date of completion above the entrance.

1564.......I dont think so

Those were once roads maybe got washed out during a heavy rain season the date of 1961 was the wpa works project administration dated all their work so this must have been a road at 1 time
You seem to be very tired and sweaty looking and the roads look big enough to drive down them, was there something stopping you from just driving?

@CaitlynYoung1 yes there was if you watch the beginning at about 23 sec in you can see a yellow gate so we couldn't really drive up it but it was still a fun hike

Cool vid. I have been here many times. A beekeeper brought his hives here once, surrounded by an electric fence. Bear tracks everywhere. And way down the end and up a gully, my friend and I found where someone was growing pot - the third plantation we found, another was found up clark gulch & alder gulch, near a cabin. Be careful!
