Here are some clips from a road trip I took to West Texas recently.

In this video my route led me from North Alabama through northern Mississippi to Memphis, where I picked up I-40 west.

I drove I-40 until I reached Conway, AR, just to the west of Little Rock. The next morning I proceeded west on I-40 until reaching Oklahoma City, where I took I-44 south to Wichita Falls TX.

I then got on Hwy 82 westbound through Seymour, Benjamin, Dickens, Crosbyton and Ralls TX.

I was not impressed with the scenery in Arkansas and Oklahoma at all. The Interstate through both states ranged from acceptable to downright dangerous, with I40 through east-central Arkansas TERRIBLE.
However, the drive from Lawton, OK to my destination turned very scenic, and combined with the straight roads, low traffic density and 70mph speeds, made that portion of the trip my favorite.

West Texas has many neat small towns and I can't wait to get back to spend more time there.

  • Freakin' awesome! I really want to take a road trip this may out to South Dakota with my dad for our family reunion in our 2008 V6 Ford Mustang. I live in Southeastern Pennsylvania and I must say that there is nothing quite like the wide open spaces of the western U.S. It's one of the things that my heart needs. Just to spend quality time with my dad.

  • oh yea i love the road

  • thanks for the ride!
