I don't remember this one in black-and-white, always in color. This must be a much later re-touching I've never seen.

I know this is just a comedy skit but, if there were brick walls behind each door, how did Maria/Charlie Chaplin enter that room? He/She must have entered and some magician (like Mumford) must have decided to play a trick for fun by blocking him/her in the room.
