You sir, are extremely correct.

I've seen many great videos which had many hours of effort, thought and time put in to and rarely get any views or recognition for it simply because it's not "random" and referencing some bland adult-swim show or popular cartoon series.

Also, so many users copy from each other. If you took away their watermarks of many users vids and placed it all in one channel you wouldn't know who did what they did at all.

It's a sea of unoriginality out there.

Eh but seriously, I would agree it really wasn't fair for youtubers to watch some fad responded videos more than the well-efforted, non-fad responded ones. But it's probably because they mostly like the randomness(rubberfruit) and surreal(r33mix) stuffs. Even I'd admit, I've made good(if not decent) videos, but even I watch random surreal videos too.
