Eric Burns - Mbox 2 Mini & Pro Tools LE 8 - My Third Session (unfinished)

This is the general layout of my newest song. I'm just kind of creating whatever comes off the top of my head to try to learn Pro Tools, so, sorry if it sucks! It's definitely not finish. I've only finished tracking, for the most part, very rough versions of the guitar parts I might use.

Guitars sound rad, drums are kinda sucky. In the simple octave strummy part, it sounds like Tom Delonge's guitar sound, just with more distortion. Interesting stuff guy!

wow man like the music, similar style to Explosions in the Sky which is cool. Did you mic an amp for the guitars or apply the effects with pro tools ? keep those tunes coming !!

@daverobinson121 The guitars are direct in to the Mbox, so I applied all of the effects afterward in Pro Tools. I used Eleven Free that comes Pro Tools. I'm getting Line 6's Amp Farm Platinum soon, hopefully. So, the guitars should sound better in the future. I'm in an apartment so I can't mic my head/cab, yet. Thanks for listening!

dope... can u give us more info about ur gear? do you have monitors?... midi controllers? how do you program the drums to sound like its being played live. thanks.

@paulgut420 My gear is REALLY lame. I hardly have any equipment yet. I'm just getting in to this. I was using a crappy pair of old Panasonic headphones that doesn't even allow me to hear the mix in stereo so I would have to bounce it to .wav to check the panned guitars. I have an m-audio O2 midi keyboard but I haven't gotten it working with Pro Tools yet so, in this song, I just sat there are clicked on the midi until I got the sound I had in my head. The drums are imported midi from TabIt.

this is great :-) good work! i listened to it twice. i just started looking into recording and i found the Pro tools with mini Mbox, so far it looks like exactly what i need for making my first solo demo, i understand that all i need is the mbox with pro tools, a computer, some cables, my guitar and my sterio is all i need at this point? any advice or anything would be fantastic :-)

dude to use run pro tools HD you need a shitload of money, at least 10,000 bucks just to get some really basic hardware for it.

If i want to hook my guitar up to the Mbox, can i then just use a normal jack-stik who normally is used from guitars to an amplifier?

sounds awesome!! i just picked up the mbox 2 mini and a Bluebird mic. listening to this is giving me hope that these will do the job of just a basic demo. thanks you have given me hope.
