A series of Flicker Work.
This is one of my second year Fine Art Degree pieces. Recycled newspapers are rolled out into thin tubes of various lengths which are then put together into this sculpture as shown. Due to the limited quality of the filming, I believe this video does not do justice to the colourfulness it acquires. The actual piece is noticeably unrestrained, enabling optical illusion as well as appreciation. Wish I had a better camera to make this video. I had such a joy in making it. The colours remind me so much of Yinka Shonibare's work. I hope Sir Yinka Shonibare will check this piece out one day and give me an honest opinion/comment. I do admire most if not all of his installation arts.
By the way, my university is having the roof repair, so the noise is from the builders on roof. Hope it does not interfere your viewing.

  • Yes, it is a good art´s work, and I think on this sculptura are formed optical illusions, for example from 0:22 to 0:26 we can see a optical illusion like red&white waves on the water, like when someone throw a stone on a quiet water.

  • Thank you for watching and you are so observant too. Thank you, thank you.

  • Thank you for your compliment, look forward to see your eventual dream and creation.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • Thank you Jenny. I know I should get the camera from the Uni. but this was just a quick job for my own archive, I thought I had to document all my core module work. It was never meant to be uploaded to Youtube. Anyway, I have done it, there is no regret, I definitely will get the camera from the Uni. next time. Thank you for your suggestion and your help. You are one of the most helpful young ladies in our year, much appreciated.

  • You have to be very creative to study Fine Art these days. I constantly look for ideas and inspiration.

  • I like this one as well. I want to live in a beach house or log cabin constructed in this shape. As it is, this eyecatching piece is a tasteful decoration for any living space.

  • Amelia this is great!

  • You should borrow a video camera from the media department in coslett. I always use one from there to film my work coz they are such good quality. They are very easy to use but i can show you if you have any trouble. Jenny x

  • Very impressive - turning recycled newspapers into such creative flickers.
