Mac and Sam explain the situation with Amanda to Rachel, who agrees with Sam that Amanda wouldn't have gone this long without calling to see how Alli was and that something's wrong. Rachel fears Amanda is hurt, but Sam tells Rachel that they called the hospitals, and they've called the police, who will be looking into it. Rachel wants to know where the police are supposed to start, and if anybody has any idea where Amanda is. Sam tells Rachel about Amanda calling him "Sammy," and his theory that maybe she was trying to clue him in that something was wrong. Rachel thinks that maybe Amanda couldn't talk, and she tells Mac they have to find Amanda. Iris enters the library then with Hilda, who is carrying a tray of sandwiches and coffee, and greets Rachel. Rachel asks what's with the food, and Iris replies that it's sustenance for the long vigil, and she wants to help them find Amanda. Rachel then says that Iris is the reason Amanda is missing, and the two women start arguing on the spot, with Iris exclaiming that she's sick and tired of being blamed for everything that goes wrong in the family, and Rachel accusing Iris of pushing Amanda to do the story. Iris retorts that she didn't push Amanda any harder than she would push any other reporter who works for Brava. Rachel points out that Iris has resented Amanda since the day Amanda was born. Iris asks Mac if she has to listen to this. Mac tells Rachel this is no time for her and Iris to get into it. Sam is on the phone with Julie Ann again and asks everyone to please be quiet so he can hear her, because while she hasn't found anyone who's heard from Amanda, she does have a list of sources for the story Amanda is working on. Rachel says that Amanda was so eager to please Iris that now Amanda's in danger. Iris tells Mac she's not going to listen to this, and the best thing she can do is leave. Mac follows Iris to the doorway and asks Iris to understand that they're under a lot of tension because they're worried. Iris says she knows they are, and she doesn't want to increase the burden for Mac. Sam finishes his phone call, then asks Iris to wait and shows her the list of sources for Amanda's story that he got from Julie Ann and asks her to look at them and see if she knows if Amanda has worked with any of those people. Iris agrees, saying she's happy to do anything she can to help Amanda. Mac tries to placate Rachel about Iris, but Rachel doesn't want to hear it. Amanda is in danger, and Iris's idea of help is to bring in tea sandwiches? Mac admits that he knows it's inept, but can't Rachel see that Iris wants to help? Rachel replies that she doesn't want to see. She's sick of trying to understand Iris. She knows that Iris is Mac's daughter and Mac loves her, but Rachel doesn't; as far as Rachel is concerned, Iris is a threat to everything Rachel does love. Iris apologetically tells Sam that none of the names look familiar to her, then offers to make some calls, adding that she has no desire to stay in this room any longer. "Good!" Rachel exclaims as Iris leaves the room and Mac goes after her.
