Gibson Mandolin '23 F4

Here is a sample of the sound of one unusually nice Loar-era '23 Gibson F4. Excellent condition, adjustable bridge, truss rod. All original. Note the crisp, precise, extremely well-balanced sound, combined with good volume.

The Bulldog is interesting and nicely made, but hybrid F-4's just can't compete with old Gibson roundholes, which have transverse bracing and a short neck. Even the new "traditional" type F-4's sound better than hyrbrids imo. Sometimes a hybrid sounds too much like an F-5's sounds. (An F-5 is wonderful if that's what you want.) This Gibson F-4 is a fantastic instrument.

I wish you would post another video of the Bulldog hyprid with the vizi back to back with this wonderful Gibson -- playing the same song for example. Or get someone to play with you? I think you would hear a wonderful contrast. I have a 1919 F2 but I think the one you have sounds a little better than mine. Nice job!
