Laura Claycomb is such a great artist! I'm going to save up some money and the first chance I get, I'm going to Europe to see her! She hardly performs in the US - I don't have a passport, but as soon as I get one, I'm going to see her! My first teacher, the late Norma Newton, was her teacher for many years!

This is the closest to an ideal in Handel singing that I've heard since the tragic loss of Hunt Lieberson. Here, we have strong control of pitch, marked by clean attacks throughout, plus an integrated sense of communication that fuses the musical line and the words into one.
Brava!
She is perfect.

I know, it is SO unfair! I don't understand how she is not singing at the Met all the time-maybe she just chooses not too? The only time I have had the opportunity to hear her live was at this performance in Houston, it was so good, I was giddy the entire time. But she DOES have a lot coming up in the US this year, just not in NY, sadly. Her schedule is NUTS if you've ever seen it on her website. She must be a machine!
