So obviously 2 bunny rescues think differently. Has anyone had success by supplementing or feeding them entirely if abandoned?

I was told by another bunny rescue that she fed them half of the puppy formula supplement (looks like baby formula) and half goats milk. Make sure its warm (they like it warm) so just stick it into a bowl with hot water for a minute. Also told syringes work best at beginning then the small nursing bottles at 2 wks old. U can get formula at petsmart and goats milk at any grocery store. At 7 wks u can give them oats (not quick oats). Do not give Mommy bunny any lettuce when feeding. only carrots.

You can get the small syringes from any pharmacy for about .25 cents or less. Just make sure to take the needle off. I called a rescue center and they told me to not supplement the smallest ones because if some milk went up their nose that they would asperate (the liquid goes into their lungs and they die) which is a more cruel way for them to die. Do you guys agree? Is it better to just let them die or try by supplementing?

Hi just wondering by rabbit had 9 baby's and am just wondering where can I get kittens milk because I think the mother isn't needing her baby's and should we bring them in at night and put them back out side in the morning ? Pls pm I need info fast cuz the baby's are not moving much and look hungry.

I usually just put some warm water from the sink in a measuring cup and then put the milk cup into the warm water for a few minutes. Room temp or warm...not cold from the fridge. If the babies get cold they won't eat as well.

@xinedurkin um i have a question it's kind of stupid but how warm the milk should be? as in newborn baby warm or....? as my sister is kind of scared that her female bunny might abandon her young so she needs a lot of information about feeding, raising other stuff that is important.

hello, i was wondering how much to feed and how to get the KMR ready?
Rabbits usually only have 8 nipples. I would split the litter into two nest boxes. 5 bigger in one and 4 smaller in the other. Put the 4 smallest in with the mom at 7pm. Put the others in a safe place until 7am and then switch them. The 4 smallest will get lots of time to catch up and does are more likely to feed in the midnight to 5am time slot. The five bigger kits will 'popcorn' and chirp to get her to feed them when they go in the morning so she will be making plenty of milk. Good luck.

I would go with the sheep milk. Make sure it is warm but not hot. Good luck.

I am sorry to say that it is very probable that your kit will not survive. Cat mouths have an extremely high concentration of bacteria that quickly infects young animals. Best of luck and I am glad the video is helpful.

Please stop feeding lettuce and carrots immediately! Greens will give your small bunny diarrhea and they can die within 24 hours. Instead provide the young rabbit with a high quality rabbit pellet feed (not from wal mart but from a pet store) Look for Ox-bow feeds. Also give the bunny unlimited hay (again not straw but horse quality hay). Best of luck in your bunny adventure.

I am sorry to say that the success rate without having a nursing doe is very low. The best option for wild rabbits is goats milk but without the fresh goat's milk we have had success in supplementing with kitten formula. The difference is that we were only supplementing what the doe was already feeding. Are you sure of the age? Try to put some instant oatmeal in the bedding with the kits. If they are a little older they may eat some of the oats. Best of luck.
