The aim is to support children at the earliest point, to give them the best chance when beginning their lives.

Barnardo's Works is an innovative and successful programme that allows disadvantaged young people to achieve independent employment. Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) - East Glasgow Community Health Care Partnership
Partner organisations: Strathclyde Police, Glasgow City Council Education Services and Glasgow Community and Safety Services

Significantly higher levels of gang violence take place across the Glasgow local authority area than most other authorities in Scotland. This has led the partners involving taking a joint approach between them and the local communities which is required in order to reduce the violence which affects these neighbourhoods.

The Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) is principally tasked to achieve a reduction in gang violence experienced in Glasgow. By focussing primarily on the east end of the city it facilitates a partnership approach that is not only structured to reduce the violence gang members inflict on each other, but also to provide young gang members with alternatives to the violent lifestyle that gang membership involves.
