just to let people know i saw another video on this and i used a paper cup and i just made 2 slits instead of a v and it looks soooooo cute and not as messy ^_^( with a paper vs up above i also used individual candies so i didnt need the lacey stuff i do like that idea though

This is a great easy idea... if you wanted, you could change the color of the shoe by spray painting, but if you do, make sure that you use a water based spray paint like Krylon H2O or the spray paint will eat the styrofoam.
