This movie is intended for our family and friends who recognize some old familiar faces of people still here and gone by.

Feel free to add your comments!

This family footage includes some wonderful people and scenes. You'll see actual footage of Anthony Sooklaris, which is rare, as he is the one behind the camera. For those of you "in the know", you see a few familiar faces:

Of course, you'll see our entire family in this film. As well as Chris Daskalakis, as well as his mother Anna Daskalakis, Argiro Milonakis, George and Jessica Jugarakis (Tsougarakis). You'll also see also a rare clip of Antone and Maria Vatsakis.

There is some footage of San Francisco in 1961 on Union Square, and in the Avenues. Then the scene moves to a train station which leads our journey to Carbon County Utah. There, you will see one of the Helen Sooklaris', and some shots of Gus Sooklaris, and his daughter, MaryEllen. And of course you'll Mary (Gianarakis) Sooklaris and her brother John Gianarakis.

Next the scene heads to New York where we prepare to embark for Crete on the Queen Frederica. My mom straightens out our laundry on the Manhattan streets...not so bashful. We're on the top of the Empire State Building, and some interesting old shots of New York.

Enjoy!

  • Thanks for all your great videos, John. I cry everytime I see them. I have such fond memories from Price and San Francsico with all of you. I truly miss the good times. I think of Theo Tony often. I remember Yia Yia yelling at you boys' to get Maryann's shoes out of her tree. It's nice seeing shots of my dad( I still miss him).

    Where did the time go?

    Your cousin, Mary Ellen

  • John your videos are wonderful. I cannot watch with dry eyes. The Bahamas feel so far away - how time flies.

  • I don't know your family but I live in San Francisco and these shots of the City from the 60's are wonderful!
