i've finished a new tongue drum that's twelve notes and also six chords this is me playing around with it (please excuse poor sound quality and inability to keep time well;)

how can I make one home tongue drum? do i have only to make a box and cut the shape of the tongues and there it should sound itself?

sort of

you need to shave the underside of each tongue to tune it but you dont have to there is a post called the brady tongue drum and it sounds more percussive that is what your drum will sound something like if you dont tune the tongues

so it's all good

but, I have two more questions: how does the distance between parts is related to note tunning? and also, which scale do you need to use to make an african scale?...like a balafon sound...like this one for example?

I am especially impressed by the resonance. Is your secret the amount of open space in the sound board (which is less than that on drums that don't sound as good) or do the tongues themselves resonate with one another sympathetically? Also, do you sell copies of your plans? This is an especially beautiful instrument. When you tune the tongues, do you focus only on the end and base of each tongue or do you seek out other nodes? Whatever you are doing, you are certainly doing it right.
