UPDATE 10/3/11
Flashing the ROM at the end may not work if you have already flashed the updated ROM from T-Mobile. There have been a couple reports of problems, though it has been few. This is why it is important to make a nandroid backup!!!

----------

This video shows how to back up your stock T-Mobile G2x using NVflash, and then install CyanogenMod 7 Nightly (Gingerbread 2.3.4). This version uses the CM7 nightly build 15 from 5/11/11.

It is important to NOT boot ClockworkMod Recovery from ROM Manager for your backup (fakeflash). Use NVflash (real NAND flash) and boot into the recovery that way like I show.

The first download is a rar file so you can either download 7-zip or Winrar to extract (unzip) this:

http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

Troubleshooting:
- If it doesn't boot correctly, you could try a battery pull, as well as booting into CWR, go to advanced, and wipe dalvik cache.

  • Hey, I did everything using the NVFlasher method, but any custom Rom I try to flash ends up goint into a bootloop, you know what's wrong?

  • @loyu123 Try booting into ClockworkMod Recovery, go to Advanced>wipe dalvik cache. See if that helps.

  • When do i download and install gapps? After i have the new rom? I did everything you did and it was fine but no gmail or matket...

  • @Stepdenisethetrumpet Yea, when you install the CM7 ROM you will not have the gapps. Install them afterward. I have a video for that as well if you need it.

  • @2TooManyHobbies Yea, where is your video for that. I downloaded gapps, and installed it in recovery but when I rebooted...nothing :( Nice video btw.

  • @Stepdenisethetrumpet I see you found the video. You got it to work?
