@stephenjoeagi It is interesting and informative at the same time that Prokofiev himself played this piece in a gentle manner even with rubati that one would not necessarily associate him or his compositions with. I found via association with Russian musicians that there are two streams of interpretation: 1) the school of banging that regards the piano and Prokofiev as percussive (inc. Grieg, Mendelssohn) and 2) the fewer who are more refined who don't belt out like typical slavic sopranos.

@jorgepeterbarton Your right hand will go into a spasm if you try to keep it immobile. Let your hands and wrists rotate from side to side. It may be overdoing it at first but the movements will become smaller as the speed gets faster.

anyone have any tips for getting those arpeggios up to speed? i can do it for a couple of bars but then my hand kind of spasms out and gives up!

This is how it's meant to sound. Beautiful, exciting but not raucous. He plays this well. Arpeggio's galore

I will learn this SOMEHOW. I WILL.
(for grade 8)
Probably the best recording of this piece. Gilels and quite a few others seem to forget this is a "harp" prelude.

@zamyrabyrd I have no doubt about that. Gilel's recording does not come close to the beauty elegance and balance that Yuri Boukoff brings to this recording. I am very lucky to have gotten from him many of his recordings that had not been rereleased, before his death.

Yuri Boukoff's Prokofiev was distinguished by brilliant clarity & lightness. Here in this sparkling piece we hear a beautiful touch and elegance. What a jewel!

Thank you Veseli. I will try to post as many recordings as I can to honor one of the great pianists of our time, your dear friend Yuri Boukoff. I have been a great admiror, since the first time I heard him in concert in 1956.
