  • The 369th may have been seconded to the French army, but it was up to the French how they would be used. And their need was for combat troops.

The 369th was in combat longer than any US unit in WW1. They liberated towns. They were the first Allied soldiers to reach the Rhine. They won 171 decorations. Two Harlem Hellfighters were especially honored for fighting off an attack on their tiny outpost by 24 Germans.

And that nickname, the Hellfighters? The Germans gave them that.

Stephen L. Harris wrote the book. That is where I got the info from. Learn to read at a 9th grade level then go read the book.

I got my PHD in poontang and a doctorate in doing your mom. But in all seriousness, for what it's worth, everything I posted is from a book about the "Harlem Hellfighters" some of which was taken from their war diaries. They really were seconded to a Frenchie until and were not meant to be frontline soldiers. Some of them did serve with distinction though.

stop making shit up, you sound like you don't even have a highschool diploma.

  • @avillaavilla go to hell.

  • You know nothing of history. The 369th was never meant to go and fight in the trenches. They were only meant to play these upbeat jazzy tunes and cook up some good meals in the officers messes. They got seconded (attached) to a French unit to fulfill a quota for manpower. 80% of the men who fought in WW I had a highschool education and 90% of them were White.

  • Without questionning their bravery, it is clever politics to put lower educated young men to get killed in trenches.
