Paradise Found: A Documentary on Islamic Architecture and Art

We imagine many things when we think of this word. However, we do not think about Islamic Architecture, which influenced the art of Europe so profoundly. This documentary tours through the Muslim world, in search of that "atmosphere of Paradise," hidden away in mosques and palaces.

  • Nice documentary ... even though he only probably covered 0.5% of Islamic Art around the world.

  • Mash allah, the Muslims in that time devoted their life's in creating something beautiful to show their love to God, my favorite is the mud one, they are cleaver every time they fix the Mosque over and over and get rewarded for it by God, makes you wounder what we Muslims have done to show our love to the Creator.

    thanks for vid

  • incredibly astonishing art that is what made islam look delicate and amazingly beautiful and it will never be as good and condescending as it used to be

islam changed over time now is a scary religion with corrupt leaders :(

but that art will never die :)

thank you so much for uploading this ^_^

  • @ImaginedWriter I too am an atheist and I think your commentary is as ignorant as believing in god.

  • Thank you! There is nothing more beautiful than Islamic art! These mosques are the work of Allah. A man without believing in God would never create anything like this.

  • excellent

  • I loved watching it. I think that they could do a whole show on Islamic calligraphy- fascinating-the different styles are beautiful-only touched on briefly in the show, it figures prominently in everyday art. It is used as decoration-and is the only adornment and most beautiful in the Quran and used artistically. I have seen decorative plates with verse written on them that date back to the time of the companions-amazing and looks so vibrant and fresh.

  • Loved it!

  • @ImaginedWriter .............."not simply to reflect reality but to heighten it, to add to the drama or hit the core of emotion,"..................= Frank Frazetta..............Boris Vallejo................Jim Fitzpatrick. (Fitzpatrick gallery is found on google).

  • @acerb45666555 Uninteresting and uninspired, by perspective I mean the proper placing of an object in a 3D environment but displayed in a 2D medium. Most of the pieces in that video you linked would have been better off as photos.

Painting is not simply to reflect reality but to heighten it, to add to the drama or hit the core of emotion, something like the destruction of empire by Thomas Cole.

  • @ImaginedWriter .........i would say this Muslim artist has captured the concept of perspective!>>watch>>"Persian Art, Iranian artists Shahin Mojtabai ایرانیان آرت "

  • @acerb45666555 It is sterile repeating patterns, you can't compare the passion and concentration in the face of the David to the inanimate constant repetition of islam. It's quite symbolic really; they repeat mindlessly Allah Allah & so their art repeats and repeats and repeats. Western art questions, changes, is passionate and bold.

As for India, I prefer their ancient architecture such as khajuraho which is vastly superior to the invading barbarian Islamic hordes which retarded that culture.
