In our traditional Japanese-style house, there is no central heating. Space heaters cannot be left on all night because of the kerosene fumes, so it can get pretty cold! One thing that helps to keep toes toasty is a Japanese metal hot water bottle, which stays warm all through the night! Here I am preparing the water bottles for my children before bed.
