Sounds like you guys play the scratches on the records! I heard a few recordings on your myspace, do you have any plans to record a tribute, or have someone multi track record you live?
Keep on playing- I would like to see you guys live !.
the elevators were usually pretty high when they performed - I remember just being fascinated by the electric jug sound..only later did I really get into the lyrics and realize what they were saying.
I personally preferred peyote to LSD- smoother more stoney high once you got past the taste...and it really comes on strong at dusk..once surfed for 6 hours straight at Matanchen Bay- a Huichole Indian got us 15 buttons..
having seen the real elevators play this song, I have to say that I really miss the jug. this is not a bad version and the guitar makes an interesting substitute but Tommy Hall 's jug work- for a guy who said he was not a musician- was excellent. he knew when to fill and when to back off.
this was played a bit too fast but Acid Tomb does a very respectable job on this complex song.
i agree with iliveno, to take sides......tommy was [dynamic] with the jug, quite fluent.......this dude sounds more like a perculator.....but, then, i used to record tea kettles and put them in instrumental breaks. go figure.......lol.
Dont get picky about the jug!! These boys do a wonderful job of playing the Elevators stuff, giving people a chance to imagine. There only two clips of the Elevators I've come across. Hats off to the Alice Rose and all Austin Bands keeping a music scene alive
Actually, Tommy Hall should have paid closer attention to his Coletrane and Coleman records. His brilliance was lyrics and guiding the band...not his musicianship. He created the jug because he couldn't play anything else.
not bad guys

There's no other way to approach this song other than to testify and throw yourself into the experience.
