The C-5 is old, it spends more time on the ground than in the air. The only thing that spends less time in the air than the C-5 is dirt. LOL!

@carlobari60 The narrator speaks of the Antonov An-22 Antaeus. Not the An-225 Mriya. In any case, the number of engines on an aircraft is not indicative of how powerful the aircraft is. Different engines produce different amounts of thrust.

TWO less engines than the Antov. How can it be more powerful?

@cupwithhandles Antonov An-22

greeting. At the beginning, the narrator said the C5 took the title of world's-largest-aircraft from an Antanov model, but I couldn't catch it's name. Can anyone help? Thanks.

wooooooooooooow!

@faosfx The reason why you see so much smoke from the engines is because that's the way most jet engines were back when this was filmed (probably in the 1960s when this aircraft first came into being). In this day and age engines are much more efficient and have much cleaner emissions. Until there's another alternative to get very heavy loads to faraway locations, this is what we have.

@pjthetallguy and with the new C-5M it will be with us another 35 years. :)
Look at that black smoke she's putting out during reverse thrust, a good old smoker!
