@barrygkx Where did you got Wire connector from Battery to Radio? Could you please tell me website, where did you got it? And all Batteries that are 12V will work? Thanks

The dimension of the base section of the antenna 22 inches, does this fit a formula or was it a length you experimeted with. I would like to build my own, I have ordered the 9 foor whip from Buddipole. So is 22 inches the ideal length or can I make it longer?

@zx636racer I was going to use an air variable cap. For me, it's probably close enough the way it is that I can get by without it. Even though the radials are laying on ground, they need to be trimmed and that will bring the SWR down a lot lower.

OOPS! Well it goes without saying I made a slight error. The rig is in fact an FT-897D.
