Stile Antico's newest programme centres on Thomas Tallis's magnificent seven-part 'Christmas' Mass, based on the festive plainchant Puer natus est ('A boy is born'). The mass is interspersed with seasonal Tudor music, including William Byrd's exquisite Propers for the fourth Sunday of Advent, responsories by Taverner and Sheppard, Robert White's exuberant setting of the Magnificat, and Tallis's own sublime Videte miraculum.

  • @Wally773MTG I agree. Move.

  • superb sound you youngsters!

  • Wally... why do you have to be American, or from any country, for that matter, to enjoy this music... I am Cuban, and I adore it! Granted, being born "into the culture" may facilitate acquaintance with both the music and its context from birth, but a lot can be gained with study, attention and sheer alertness of your senses! So let's continue to grow in both our knowledge of Early Music and in our joyful reception of it, no matter neither where we are from nor where we live now! :)

  • purely harmonious!

  • ...good god the overtones at 2:45 made me giggle like a little girl. Great job! Seeing all that is in the world of early music makes me angry I was born American and not British!

  • Magnifieke muziek! Ik geniet dagelijks van de cd met muziek voor advent en kerst.

Prachtige uitvoering, kan niet verbeterd worden.

  • We had the immense privilege of being part of a choral ensemble tutored by the Stile Antico in summer 2009. Unforettable, fun, rich, and their concert was mind blowingly beautiful.

This is a capella singing the way it ought to be - harmonious, modest, yet soaring up to heaven - as intended by the composer. BRAVO

  • Wow. They don't compose music like this anymore. I wish I grew up in the 1550s rather than the boring 1950s. And as for Lady Gag Gag - she just doesn't compare to this stuff. This rocks!!

  • Gorgeous music, brilliantly performed. I look forward to the relase of the SACD and hearing this in its full splendour of multichannel sound.

  • Brilliant, as always.... Heavenly harmonies.
