Saw her in 76 at Carnegie Hall...I was blown away...

Laura was one of the few white singers who could nail these classics dead on.
Man, she was great.

Thank you so much for posting this! Lost my Gonna Take A Miracle CD but did not know how much I missed it until listening to this. Fantastic music!

Thanks for posting. Laura was just the very best...ever! Absolutely no one wrote music or sang a lyric quite like her. What a profound loss. My God, how I miss her.

Laura Nyro, LaBelle just after they were Patti LaBelle and the Blue Bells plus the best session musicians in Philly.

Talk about underrated. Monkey Time sung originally by Major Lance and written by Curtis Mayfield of the Impressions. Nobody knows but Curtis wrote the greatest songs / gypsy woman/ I'm so proud/ minstrel and queen/ sad sad boy and girl / I'm the one who loves you/ keep on trying and more. I'm not saying Freedies dead or It's alright or Amen aren't good but everyone knows them and they should know the best of Curtis.

I was buying her albums back in the day and anyone who came over would ask ... WHO'S THAT????
She was way ahead of her time and died way too young!!
-
@parmenides91 I know! Her version of Spanish Harlme is really something!
-
She was simply the best--they don't make em like her no more-- raw, ripped, stunning, insanely talented. Discovered on the subways of NYC.

You know, I'd say that version of Spanish Harlem very much does rival the original , its just that good!! Incredible stuff!!

Thanks!
